Do Kids Need a Helmet for Ice Skating?
When going to the rink for some winter fun, it is crucial to equip your child with a kids' ice skating helmet. Although a lot of effort is made to make ice rinks as safe as possible, there will always be a certain danger when on a slippery, hard surface such as ice so it’s better to be safe than sorry. For the youngest ice skaters, toddler ice skating helmets are also a great way to boost their confidence as they make their first steps on the ice as well as give parents peace of mind.
Fitting Kids and Toddlers Ice Skating Helmet
A helmet should always fit comfortably and snug on a child's head and should not move from side to side or front to back. Therefore, it’s important to make sure that the chin strap is tight enough without being uncomfortable. If you want to read more about how a helmet should fit, and how to measure for it, then check out our guide on How to Wear a Helmet.
Along with a helmet, more useful protection to get for your child are Kids Protective Pads for Ice Skating. These often come in sets and are designed to protect areas that skaters often fall on, like knees and elbows.
