BMX Seating Gear for your Bike
In our BMX seating category you will find our collection of BMX seats, seat posts, and seat clamps. The most important thing to bear in mind is that these different components have to be compatible with each other. For instance, a pivotal seat will only work with a pivotal seat post.
How Do you Attach a BMX Seat?
There are five different mounting systems in regard to BMX seats: pivotal, combo, rail, tripod and stealth. The way you attach them to their seat posts differs for each type. However, the steps to install the seat post on the frame are more or less universal.
Some frames have an integrated seat clamp on top of the seat tube, but if yours doesn’t, you will need one to secure the seat post to your frame: loosen the clamp with a hex key and then slide it on the seat tube. Then, insert the seat post in the frame, and tighten the clamp to fix the seat at the desired height. In race BMX bikes there is also a type of seat clamp called “quick-release”, which allows you to adjust the height of your seat without any tool.
To choose the right seat post, you need to measure the inner diameter of the seat tube of your frame - the standard is 25.4 mm, but it is always worthy to check. Once you have this measurement, you shall choose a seat post of the same diameter. If the seat post and the frame are made of aluminum or steel, it is a good idea to grease the seat post lightly, thus to avoid oxidation or bind through friction.
