Hockey shoulder pads are not only protection for shoulders, but also the upper chest, upper arms, back, collarbone and spine. The shoulder pads protect you when tackling and against impact from the puck. For defense players a thick padding is recommended, while offense players are able to do with a lighter and smaller model allowing more mobility.
Sizing of hockey shoulder pads
It is the size of your body that determines what size you need. Measure the circumference of your chest just below the armpits.

Shoulder pad quality
