Skate Cross Country Skis
What Are Cross Country Skate Skis?
Cross country skate skis are used for the Nordic discipline of skate skiing. This form of cross country skiing involves the skier making a skating motion, similar to the ice skating technique, that creates momentum to ski and glide along snowy groomed trails. This is a great form of exercise and the perfect way to explore nature. Aside from being a relaxing hobby, there is a competitive side to skate skiing, with professional athletes racing in all the “cold” corners of the world.
The skate skis are attached to the skier with specific cross country skate bindings and skate boots. These can be purchased individually, or you can choose a skate package to have all the right gear, all together at a convenient price.
What Size Cross Country Skate Skis Do I Need?
The skate ski length that you should choose is based on your weight, height, and preference. Each ski length comes with a recommended user weight interval that you should fit within. Being within the weight interval allows the ski to flex appropriately to get the best performance out of it. The general rule of thumb is that the skis should be between 5-15 cm longer than your height.
If you are stuck between two sizes, think about what you want to do with your skate skis. Shorter skate skis are more agile and easier to use, whereas longer skate skis require more control but offer great momentum and speed.
